New York company raises over $120k to make action figure of Volodymyr Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is being made into an action figure by a product design company, FCTRY, in New York. It started a Kickstarter campaign to raise money for action figure production. Within three hours, it reached its $30,000 financing target, and it has now raised more than $120,000. For every figure sold, $1 is going to Ukraine.

Mike Leavitt, a Seattle-based artist, created a 6-inch (15-cm) tall clay model of Volodymyr Zelensky’s action figure. It will be mass-produced in China from plastic. Delivery is anticipated by March 2023.

FCTRY’s chief executive, Jason Feinberg, said, “The way we framed him in the campaign is ‘the unlikely hero’. He’s the perfect leader for this moment, just this super inspirational character. He has this real strength that comes across. But it’s humble and he sort of represents the opposite of everything that we’ve come to associate with politics.”

Volodymyr Zelensky has been fighting the Russian invasion since February. He came to power three years ago on a platform of ending a confrontation with separatists backed by Moscow in eastern Ukraine. Moreover, the former comedian turned actor is a great communicator. He has won praise from around the world for his tenacity in defying Russia’s disastrous invasion of his country. According to specifics, on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin sent troops into Ukraine as part of a “special operation” aimed at disarming and “denazify” the country.
