Most liveable cities in 2023: Here's the list

According to a list published by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), the capital of Austria, Vienna, has been designated the “most liveable city” in the world for 2023. The list includes the names of 173 cities from around the globe that have been ranked according to a number of important criteria, such as infrastructure, environment, health care, education, stability, and stability. Based on their success in several parameters, five Indian cities—Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Chennai, New Delhi, and Mumbai—are also included in the list.

Three cities in Canada, including Calgary, Vancouver, and Toronto, are among the top 10

Each year, The EIU, a sister company of The Economist, publishes its Global Liveability Index. Copenhagen, Denmark, holds onto its second-place ranking after Vienna. Melbourne and Sydney, both in Australia, are ranked third and fourth on the list. Three cities in Canada, including Calgary, Vancouver, and Toronto, are among the top 10. Zurich, which ranks sixth in the liveability index, and Geneva, which shares seventh place with Calgary, are both Swiss cities.

Japan’s Osaka has claimed the tenth spot. Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Chennai, all from India, are slightly outside the top 60. Stockholm, Sweden, and London, United Kingdom, both lost 12 and 22 ranks, to 46th and 43rd, respectively.
According to EIU, Damascus has been the least livable city on the survey for over a decade. The city of Kyiv, which is attempting to fend off the war, is included in the worst 10.
