Moscow fears a direct strike from Ukraine and prepares air defense systems

In a defensive move, Russian President Vladimir Putin has air defense systems set up near his Yascherovo forest palace. Read to know more about the possibility of an attack by Ukraine.

Russia sets up air defense systems

In fear of facing a direct strike from Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin has authorized the set up of air defense systems. They are set up close to his forest palace in Yascherovo. Yascherovo is halfway between St Petersburg and Moscow. A Pantsir-S1 defense system is set up near the presidential palace. Moreover, earlier reports reveal the deployment of missiles close to his residence in Moscow. The area near Putin’s official residence in Novo-Ogarevo had similar setups earlier this week. Additionally, this is aimed at helping protect President Putin from Ukranian missiles and drones.

More on the new setup

Across Moscow, several Pantsir-S 1 and S-400 Triumf air defense systems have been set up for defending the city in case of an attack by Ukraine. The S 1 in particular is aimed at protecting industrial and government facilities against precision munitions, aircraft, military drones, cruise missiles, and precision munitions. The new setup and developments are following the suspected drone attacks by Ukraine on Russian air bases in December 2022.

“These air defense systems protect President Vladimir Putin and his family from a possible Ukrainian strike. This conclusion can be drawn after the air defense system appeared near the Valdai presidential residence. There are simply no other sites for protection there, except for the residence,” revealed Agentstvo Novosti’s report.
