For the sake of optics, most politicians appear to support a cause while campaigning, only to later withdraw their support. To show his support for a particular cause, however, an independent Manhattan candidate running for New York’s 12th District adopted a somewhat unconventional strategy. Reportedly, Mike Itkis, an independent candidate has a poll policy of ‘sex positivity’ where he is gunning to legalize sex work and protect sexual rights. While most politicians would have released a statement or done a couple of interviews, explaining their position, Mike didn’t do any of it. Here’s all you need to know about the Mike Itkis sex tape.
“If I would just talk about it, it wouldn’t demonstrate my commitment to the issue”: Mike Itkis
Instead, to demonstrate his support for the concept of “sex positivity,” he co-starred and performed in a 13-minute pornographic film with an adult star.
“If I would just talk about it, it wouldn’t demonstrate my commitment to the issue. And the fact I actually did it was a huge learning experience, and it actually influenced items on my platform,” Itkis told City & State after the release of the video.
Itkis, who describes himself as an introvert, said the video was his first time having coitus on camera and that he wanted to start a “conversation” about the subject.
“I’m very much an introvert. I’m kind of a nerd who doesn’t like to be the center of attention if I can avoid it. But I thought the issues I’m trying to address are so important…I wanted to have my issues talked about in some way.”
Itkis is attempting to unseat veteran Democrat Rep. Jerrold Nadler
Before posting the video on a well-known adult video website, Itkis is said to have collaborated with porn star Nicole Sage and given it the title “Bucket List Bonanza.”
Itkis’ “sex positive approach” policy was also outlined on his campaign website, where he pledged to “actively oppose the conservative idea that sex should only occur between a man and a woman who are married to each other.”
Notably, Itkis is attempting to unseat veteran Democrat Rep. Jerrold Nadler with his somewhat “offbeat” campaign.
The fact that Nadler defeated New York City heavyweight Carolyn Maloney in her own stronghold in the June primary is a good indicator of the level of opposition Mike is up against.
