Kanye West’s lofty goals have never been hidden, but his latest project may take the cake.
The rapper, known for his avant-garde projects and unreleased albums, is now planning a self-sustaining city in the Middle East called DROAM. Yes, Ye intends to construct a massive city halfway around the world.
This move, however, comes against a backdrop of unfinished projects and abandoned properties that have fans both intrigued and skeptical.
Kanye has teased fans for years with album announcements that never materialize, leaving fans disappointed and frustrated. His most recent project, a collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign, was supposed to be released last weekend but, predictably, never saw the light of day.
In an unexpected twist, West took to X to make his most audacious announcement yet: the creation of DROAM. He intends to build it somewhere in the Middle East but does not specify where.
The city, which is still in Phase 1 development, has plans to span 100,000 acres — twice the size of New York City. Kanye is actively looking for collaborators, including project managers, engineers, architects, contractors, and builders.
However, amid this lofty declaration, reports surfaced of West’s Los Angeles church, which he purchased in March for $1.5 million and is now in disrepair.
Pictures of boarded-up windows and accumulating trash surfaced, painting a stark contrast to the visionary’s global ambitions.
Adding to the drama, Kanye recently listed his Malibu home for sale after abandoning renovation plans due to financial difficulties. At the moment, the house has no windows or electricity.
That California property, which was stripped down to its bare bones earlier this year, is now listed for $53 million, which is significantly less than the $57.25 million he paid for it just two years ago.
