Miami: American Airlines passengers removed from plane after hair transplant begins to bleed

Passenger Refuses to Deplane Despite Bleeding

A dramatic scene unfolded at Miami International Airport as a 27-year-old man, Eugenio Ernesto Hernandez-Garnier, was arrested after refusing to deplane an American Airlines flight despite bleeding from his head following a recent hair transplant.

Hernandez-Garnier, accompanied by his companion Yusleydis Blanca Loyola, 32, boarded the flight to Las Vegas when the flight crew noticed blood and a bloody bandage around his head wound. Miami-Dade police advised the passenger to clean the blood and replace the dressing. However, Hernandez-Garnier claimed he did not have any fresh bandages.

Refusal and arrest

In response to health concerns and the risk of bodily fluid contamination, the flight staff requested Hernandez-Garnier to deplane. Shockingly, the couple refused, declaring that “if they could not fly, no one else can either.”

Law enforcement was called to the scene, and both Hernandez-Garnier and Loyola were forcibly removed in handcuffs after their persistent refusal. Loyola broadcasted their ordeal on TikTok, passionately stating in Spanish that her spouse had just undergone surgery, highlighting the presence of dried blood.

Flight delay and passenger reaction

The incident caused an overnight delay, with all passengers required to disembark due to health concerns. As Hernandez-Garnier and Loyola exited through the gate, they received applause and cheers from fellow passengers. American Airlines confirmed the flight finally departed the following Tuesday morning.

Authorities transported the couple to a hospital for evaluation due to the bleeding before taking them to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami. Hernandez-Garnier and Loyola face charges of trespassing after a warning and resisting an officer without violence.

A mugshot of Hernandez-Garnier showed removed bandages and blood seeping from his scalp, suggesting a recent hair transplant procedure. Loyola’s TikTok videos indicate she also underwent cosmetic surgery while in Florida.

An American Airlines representative informed the Mirror: “During boarding of American Airlines flight 1858 on Aug. 19 with service from Miami (MIA) to Las Vegas (LAS), two customers became disruptive and were non-compliant with crewmember instructions.”

“Law enforcement responded and removed both customers from the aircraft. We thank our crew members for their professionalism and apologize to our customers for the inconvenience.”
