Luna -25: Russian lunar mission scientist hospitalized following russia's failed lunar mission

According to media sources, Mikhail Marov, a notable Russian scientist, astronomer, and major advisor for Russia’s failed Lunar mission, Luna -25 has been hospitalized in Moscow. This follows the failure of Russia’s most recent lunar mission.

Marov’s health suffered a “sharp deterioration” as the Luna-25 spacecraft lost control and fell into the moon. Following a 47-year hiatus from lunar excursions, Russia launched the Luna-25 spacecraft to reach the moon’s surface. The nation’s ambitions were shattered following the mission’s failure.

Marov expressed his disappointment at the inability to successfully land the spacecraft, following the mission’s failure.

Instead of a smooth landing on the moon, the spacecraft deviated into an erratic orbit and impacted the lunar surface.

“The apparatus moved into an unpredictable orbit and ceased to exist as a result of a collision with the surface of the Moon,” Roskosmos said in a statement.

Speaking to Reuters, the Russian scientist, who is currently under observation, said, “How can I not worry? This has been very much a matter of my life. It’s all very hard.”

Luna 25: “There was a mistake in the algorithms for launching into a near-lunar orbit

Mikhail Marov expressed his hope that the causes of the incident would be thoroughly investigated. As a veteran in the field, the 90-year-old Marov lamented the failure of the mission, which he considered a last chance for a revival of Russia’s lunar program. “This was perhaps the last hope for me to see a revival of our lunar program,” he said.

“There was a mistake in the algorithms for launching into a near-lunar orbit, the Daily Mail reported, quoting him. He stressed the importance of identifying errors that contributed to the failure. “It must be found. For the specialists who will be involved in the work of the commission, this will not be a big problem. I think the answer will be found in the foreseeable future,” he added. The failure of the mission has deeply affected the Russian scientist.

Investigation

Roskosmos appointed a special inter-departmental panel to investigate the incident and determine the causes of the Luna-25’s failure.

Russia’s economic difficulties have been exacerbated by Western sanctions and its engagement in a major European crisis, adding to the complications it faces. Despite these obstacles, Russia attempted to demonstrate its space competitiveness against other world powers such as China and the United States. The failure of Luna-25 coincides with the failure of other countries lunar efforts.

The Chandrayaan-3 project from India likewise intends to settle on the moon’s south pole.
