Teens are risking it all for TikTok fame. The dangerous lick trend has teens stealing urinals, soap dispensers, and several other things from schools. Here’s all about this revolting TikTok trend.

What is the lick trend all about?

Students have been stealing lab equipment, towel dispensers, soap dispensers, and several other school equipment for a brand new TikTok challenge. Like several other viral TikTok trends, this is dangerous and downright wrong. Teens are making TikToks unzipping their backpacks to reveal goods allegedly stolen from school to the background of Lil B’s ‘Ski Ski Based God’. The tougher to obtain, the more devious the ‘lick’ achievement. So far, students have revealed parking signs, desk chairs, filing cabinets, school laptops, and even security cameras.

The devious lick trend began when TikTok user @jugg4elias posted a video on September 1, showing an alleged stolen box of disposable face masks. “A month into school… devious lick. Should’ve brought a mask from home. Now, look at you walking around campus maskless you dirty dog,” captioned jugg4elias. As of Monday, there are over 76,000 videos on the platform of people doing the lick trend to a sped-up background of LilB’s song. In addition, there are over 24,500 videos that use identical sounds posted by other users. Additionally, the hashtag #devioulick has 175.2 million views.

In a TikTok, user @oskarsoskar unzips their bag to reveal two COVID antigen testing kits. They then toss it to a large pile of COVID kits on their bed. In addition to this, they reveal many more test kits in a duffel bag and under the bed storage. “Mfs doing great licks,” they captioned the video. As of Monday, the video has over 2.3 million views on TikTok. They reposted the video with the caption ‘I won this trend’ when it racked up over 4.6 million views.

Lick trend: Here’s what’s devious

The trend has both students and staff fed up and angry. TikTok users are complaining that bathrooms in several schools are closed due to missing stall dividers and toilets. A TikTok user voiced their concerns about being scared of using public toilets due to the fear of having their shoes stolen in the name of the lick trend.

Moreover, school administrators are threatening serious consequences. “For those that are participating, please know that when we do catch you we will discipline you to the fullest extent and you will be arrested and you will be responsible for any of the monetary damages that have been done,” said a school administrator. “Because of the antics of a few, we don’t have soap in any of the boys’ restrooms…nor do we have any more soap dispensers so you will not be able to thoroughly wash your hands,” they added. They also said that the school had to close one of their bathrooms due to the damages caused by the devious lick.

Sunlake High School in Florida told the parents that while it looks like a harmless prank, the trend is a criminal act. “Soap dispensers, exit signs, safety signage for fire rescue, and classroom telephones are just a few of the items that were removed and stolen this week. We love our Seahawks and we do not want to see any of them arrested so, PLEASE talk to your kids. If they are participating in this activity you will be hearing from an administrator and our School Resource Officer. Let’s work together to put a stop to this now,” posted the school on Facebook.
