Kim Jong-Un visits 'model' city, first public outing in more than a month

North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un visits ‘model’ city. The new model city is under construction near the border with China. Kim says the city epitomises his country’s “iron will” to achieve prosperity in the face of international isolation and pressure. Also, this happens to be his first public appearance in a month or so.

According to the Korean Central News Agency, Kim Jong Un expressed delight during his visit to Samjiyon city on Tuesday with the progress of building at an area he referred to as the “holy place of the sun.” During his visit to the city, Kim observed the third and final phase of the building, according to KCNA.

The 4 year-long construction of Samjiyon City proves the irresistible might of the single-minded unity

“Noting that the 4 year-long construction of Samjiyon City proves the irresistible might of the single-minded unity and harmonious whole of the Party. The people and also the iron will of our state to achieve prosperity our own way and with our own efforts. As well as its self-confidence and possibility of independent development. The General Secretary, in the name of the Party Central Committee, sent thanks to the builders. As well as to supporters and the people of the whole nation. The ones who brilliantly realize the decisions and policies of the Party,” KCNA informs.

The northern alpine town of Samjiyon is being transformed into a vast economic hub. officials have given the name a “socialist utopia,” complete with new apartments, hotels, a ski resort, and commercial, cultural, and medical amenities. Expanding metropolis is close to Mount Paektu. The holy peak where Mr. Kim’s family claims its ancestors, and he has made several visits there since 2018.

The young, introverted leader’s departure from official media frequently raises questions about his health and whereabouts. Late last month, South Korea’s intelligence service stated that he was in good health.
