The New York Times (NYT) has reported that billionaire philanthropist MacKenzie Scott has filed for divorce from her second husband, Dan Jewett. She submitted the documents to the King County Superior Court in Washington State on Monday, according to the office of the court clerk.
MacKenzie married Jewett in early 2021
After divorcing the founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, in 2019, Scott wed Jewett, a former science teacher living in Seattle, in early 2021.
The New York Times broke the news of her second divorce on Wednesday after noticing that Scott had removed several of her online posts about Jewett, including those on her Amazon author page and the Giving Pledge website, which encourages the world’s wealthiest individuals to donate the majority of their wealth to charitable causes.
The couple made their marriage official through a post on their Giving Pledge webpage in 2021, Moreover, Jewett agreed to Scott’s condition to donate at least half of her riches either immediately upon her passing or during her lifetime.
With a picture of himself and Scott, Jewett said, “I am married to one of the most giving and lovely individuals I know and joining her in a pledge to pass on an enormous financial wealth to serve others.”

Scott has a $27.8 billion market value at the moment, according to Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index. Her 3% ownership in Amazon is the main source of her riches. In March, Scott said that she has given over $12 billion in total, including nearly $3.9 billion to 465 charities over the previous nine months. Two Beverly Hills residences valued at over $55 million were recently given by the benefactor to the California Community Foundation, a Los Angeles-based organization. The CEO of the foundation had specifically praised Scott.
