Flags are half-mast in some government buildings in the United Kingdom, according to one user on X (formerly Twitter), who also mentioned that the BBC went “all black again.” The user claimed that either King Charles died, abdicated, or Kate Middleton died. “The streets are saying King Charles is dead?” the user added.
However, the X user is not alone in making such a claim.
“Word on the street being King Charles died on Saint Patrick’s Day?” wrote another user.
Is King Charles dead?
King Charles was earlier seen leaving Windsor Castle on March 15 just after news came out that his old friend Ian Farquhar had passed away at the king’s Highgrove estate. The monarch appeared serious as he was driven to an unknown location.
Charles has been receiving cancer treatment at the London Clinic after being diagnosed while visiting the hospital for another reason. According to the Palace, Charles’ prostate surgery was not performed due to cancer. He was advised by his doctors to discontinue some public work. However, he meets with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak every week.
On March 14, he met with Jamaica’s High Commissioner and his wife at Buckingham Palace. Before that, he spoke with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau via video call. He also met with the ambassadors from Algeria and Mauritania.
BBC on alert
The BBC Events team was reportedly told to be prepared for a “very important update” from the Royal Family “at any time”. So far, it has been speculated that it will be something involving Kate.
Lauren and Chen, the sisters behind the ‘Popapologists’ podcast, posted a video on TikTok about Princess Kate’s health. They discussed her decision not to attend the Trooping the Color event in June.
Princess Kate, 42, has not appeared publicly since undergoing abdominal surgery in January. This week, she apologized for “manipulating” a palace-released photo of her and her three children. This apology piqued people’s interest in her health and whereabouts.
