Luxurious Lifestyle Exposed
A Brazilian fugitive drug kingpin, Ronald Roland, was arrested after his wife, Andrezza de Lima, posted revealing photos on social media. Roland, de Lima, and their daughter had evaded authorities for two years. De Lima, who runs a bikini business, frequently documented their lavish trips, inadvertently disclosing their location, as reported by TV Globo’s Fantastico. Federal Police apprehended the family while they were asleep last Tuesday.
Opulent lifestyle uncovered
De Lima’s social media posts detailed trips to Colombia, France, Dubai, and the Maldives, leading officials to their residence. Roland was one of eight people arrested in an investigation spanning seven states. Investigators seized large amounts of cash, jewelry, firearms, 34 cars, a boat, and an airplane.
According to the Daily Mail, Roland had established drug smuggling links with Mexican criminal networks and laundered $900 million over five years. His wife’s bikini boutique was among 100 businesses used for money laundering. Agent Ricardo Ruiz of the Federal Police revealed that properties were bought under business names involving financially incapable partners, including restaurant employees managing multimillion-dollar firms.
Previous social media slip-ups
This wasn’t Roland’s first slip-up involving social media. In 2019, he drew attention in Uberlandia, Minas Gerais, by frequently driving luxury cars worth $91,500 to $183,000. His opulent lifestyle raised suspicions. In July 2019, Roland was arrested after his ex-wife posted an Instagram photo of them at a Sao Paulo restaurant. The post revealed cosmetic surgery blemishes, leading to his identification and arrest.
Roland’s latest capture marks a significant victory for authorities, highlighting the risks criminals face when flaunting their wealth online.
