During a clash between security forces and terrorists on Monday in the Jammu and Kashmir district of Anantnag, an Army assault dog was critically hurt, according to officials.
After receiving specific information about the presence of terrorists there, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Tangpawa neighborhood of the south Kashmir district late on Sunday night.
According to the officials, the army sent Zoom, its assault dog, inside the house where the terrorists were camped out early on Monday.

“Zoom is a highly trained, ferocious, and committed canine. Has been trained to locate and bring down terrorists,” they said.
Officials claimed that Zoom had taken part in a number of ongoing operations in south Kashmir.
As usual, Zoom was tasked with clearing the home where terrorists were holed up on Monday.
The dog was shot twice during the operation and was left in critical condition.
“Zoom identified and attacked the terrorists during which the canine received two gunshots”, said the officials.

However, according to the officials, the dog continued to fight and carry out his mission.
“Inspite of severe injuries, the brave soldier continued his task which resulted in the neutralization of two terrorists,” they added.
Zoom is currently receiving treatment at the Army’s Vet Hospital, according to the officials. Two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were killed in the encounter, while as many soldiers were also injured.
