In a strange turn of events, German police called off a murder investigation after what was believed to be a human body in the woods turned out to be a sex doll. The incident took place in Rostock, a city in northeastern Germany when a dog walker stumbled upon what appeared to be a corpse at around 8 pm on Saturday. Initially treated as a potential homicide, the case quickly escalated into a full-scale investigation, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Police deploy forensic teams and advanced technology
Authorities swiftly dispatched a significant police force to the scene, including homicide detectives, forensic experts, and pathologists. To aid in the investigation, drones and a specialist 3D scanner were deployed. The area was sealed off while officers meticulously documented the scene, photographing the ‘remains’ and measuring them with rulers. Tensions ran high as officials worked to uncover the truth behind what seemed to be a gruesome crime.
The shocking revelation
After five hours of intensive examination, an investigator finally touched the ‘corpse’ and made a startling discovery—it was not human. What had initially been believed to be a female body was, in fact, a life-sized sex doll with highly realistic features. Upon closer inspection, officers found that parts of the doll had been burned before being placed in a blue Ikea plastic bag.
German news outlet Nordkurier reported that investigators suspect the doll had been intentionally set on fire and discarded in a public area. In an unexpected twist, a funeral director, who had been hired to transport the body to the morgue, was informed that their services were no longer required. Instead, police took the sex doll away for proper disposal.
Stranger than fiction
Officers at the scene admitted that this case was one of the most unusual they had encountered in their careers. However, it is not the first time authorities have been fooled by a sex doll.
In August 2022, a similar incident occurred in Thailand when beachgoers mistook a lifeless figure on Bang Saen beach in Chonburi province for a human body. Panic ensued among paramedics and police, only for the ‘victim’ to be identified as a Japanese-made sex doll.
