Ex-kickboxer Andrew Tate detained in Romania, faces human trafficking charges

Controversial social media personality Andrew Tate is being held on charges of rape, human trafficking, and organizing a gang in Romania.  After his home in the nation’s capital, Bucharest was raided, Tate was taken into custody along with his brother Tristan and two Romanian suspects, according to Reuters.

“The four suspects… appear to have created an organized crime group with the purpose of recruiting, housing and exploiting women by forcing them to create pornographic content meant to be seen on specialized websites for a cost,” the prosecutors said, according to Reuters.

In a video uploaded on Twitter by Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT), Tate’s home was seen to have weapons, cash, and knives on display.

The other two suspects, along with the two brothers, will be held in custody for a whole day. Six women who had been sexually abused by the perpetrators were discovered by the prosecution. Mr. Tate allegedly claimed that the ladies belonged to males and that they were partially to blame for being raped.

The former kickboxer recently engaged in a Twitter argument with young climate activist Greta Thunberg prior to this. When Mr. Tate told the 19-year-old that he owned 33 automobiles with “enormous emissions,” she responded by telling him to get a life. (Alprazolam) Mr. Tate has been banned from multiple social media platforms for making hateful and sexist remarks.

Then, on Wednesday, he reacted to Ms. Thunberg in a video in which he was shown smoking a cigar while dressed in a silk robe and joking about Ms. Thunberg’s gender. Along with insulting Ms. Thunberg, Mr. Tate made unpleasant statements.

The BBC reports that Tate first gained notoriety in 2016 as a visitor on the British reality program “Big Brother.” However, he was quickly fired after a video surfaced that purported to show him using a belt to strike a lady. At the time, Mr. Tate termed the video a “complete fraud” and claimed that it had been manipulated.

The British national afterward became well-known online because of his sexist statements, he was blocked from Twitter as well as other social media sites including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Just one month ago, Elon Musk lifted Mr. Tate’s Twitter suspension.
