Former FBI head James Comey has deal for two crime novels

James Comey, a former FBI director, is pursuing a career in crime fiction. Comey has an agreement to pen two books for Penzler Publishers’ The Mysterious Press imprint. The first, titled “Central Park West,” centres on an assistant US attorney investigating possible Mafia involvement in the killing of a local leader. The book is expected out in the next spring.

“I’m excited to take readers inside fascinating worlds”: James

“I’m excited to take readers inside fascinating worlds I’ve come to know from my time in government and the private sector,” Comey, who served as an assistant U.S. Attorney from 1996-2001, said in a statement. “These stories are fiction, but, inspired by real work I’ve done, they will offer a rarely-seen view of interesting people and institutions.”

The FBI‘s investigation into accusations of ties between Russian officials and Trump’s presidential campaign is what made Comey most famous during his brief tenure as director from 2013 to 2017, which came to an end when he was fired by President Donald Trump. In his best-selling memoir “A Higher Loyalty,” Comey writes about his professional background.

About James Comey

Comey spent the majority of his early legal career working for United States attorneys (federal prosecuting attorneys with regional jurisdiction). He started working as Rudolph W. Giuliani’s assistant in the Southern District of New York in 1987.

When Robert Mueller announced his retirement in June 2013, President Barack Obama officially nominated James Comey to lead the FBI. Comey’s Senate confirmation was simple, and on September 4, 2013, he began serving a 10-year tenure.
