Eric Adams, the mayor of New York, charged with sexually abusing a female employee

According to US media, a woman has accused New York City Mayor Eric Adams of sexually abusing her about 30 years ago. The plaintiff “was sexually assaulted by Defendant Eric Adams in New York, New York in 1993 while they both worked for the City of New York,” according to the civil action. According to The Messenger, the accuser, whose name has not been revealed, is demanding a trial and at least $5 million in relief in the complaint.

Adams has “vigorously” disputed the accusation, claiming that he has no recollection of meeting the plaintiff and that he would never do anything to inflict physical injury to anyone. “The mayor has no idea who this person is.” “If they ever met, he has no recollection of it,” stated a City Hall spokeswoman in a statement. “But he would never do anything to physically harm another person and vigorously denies any such claim.” The suit was brought under the New York Adult Survivors Act, a law passed last year that created a one-year window for filing sexual assault accusations that would otherwise be too far in the past to litigate. The deadline is this Friday.

Adams, a former police officer, was elected as New York’s second Black mayor in US history in January 2022. He is also under investigation for campaign finance fraud. Federal agents are looking into whether Adams’s 2021 campaign colluded with the Turkish government or other individuals. Previously, a sexual assault complaint was filed against Gun N’ Roses lead vocalist Axl Rose, accusing him of sexually assaulting her in 1989. The complainant, an actress and model, claims Rose (61) “sexually assaulted her.” She also stated, “I did not consent and felt overpowered.”

The civil complaint was filed on November 22nd. It demands that Rose face a jury trial and that the victim receive compensation. “Rose used his fame, status, and power as a celebrity and performer in the music industry to gain access to manipulate, control and violently assault Kennedy,” the complaint claims.
