Elon Musk’s brain implant company Neuralink, in search of human trials partner

Neuralink

Elon Musk’s brain implant firm, Neuralink, has supposedly approached one of the largest neurosurgery facilities in the United States. According to reports, the corporation sees the centers as prospective clinical trial partners. Six people familiar with the situation say the tech giant is preparing to test its devices on humans once authorities allow it. Neuralink, situated in California, is a US neurotechnology business that creates implantable brain-computer interfaces. The company hopes that it will one day be a remedy for debilitating illnesses such as paralysis and blindness. It has been working on brain implants since 2016.

Although the concept appeared to be innovative, the US Food and Drug Administration denied its application to move forward to human trials in early 2022. According to Reuters, the FDA raised serious safety concerns. Meanwhile, the corporation has been striving to address the agency’s concerns, albeit it is unclear whether or not this would be successful.

Since then, the corporation has been striving to address the agency’s concerns, although it is uncertain whether or not it will be effective. According to the sources, Neuralink has been in discussions with Barrow Neurological Institute, a Phoenix, Arizona-based neurological disease treatment and research institution, about assisting with the human trials.
