Elon Musk warns Putin faces assassination risk if he withdraws from Ukraine conflict

Elon Musk, Tesla Inc’s wealthy CEO, told US Republican senators that “there is no way in hell” that Russian President Vladimir Putin could lose the Ukraine war.

Musk commented in a forum on X Spaces, part of his X social media platform, on Monday (February 12).

In the X Spaces, Musk discussed opponents of a Senate plan that would provide additional support to Ukraine in its full-scale struggle with Russia.

Musk was joined in the conversations by JD Vance of Ohio, Mike Lee of Utah, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, and Craft Ventures LLC co-founder David Sacks.

Musk’s comments came as he agreed with Johnson’s prediction that Putin would not lose the Ukraine war. Johnson stated that people who predicted a triumph in Ukraine were “living in a fantasy world.”

Musk expressed optimism that Americans will call their elected legislators on the Ukraine bill. “This spending does not benefit Ukraine. “Prolonging the war does not help Ukraine,” he stated.

Elon Musk expresses doubt regarding Ukraine’s win

Musk has previously stated similar thoughts on X, including doubting Ukraine’s capacity to win the conflict and mocking Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s aid demands.

Musk stated that Putin had been pressured to see the fight through. “If he were to back off, he would be assassinated,” Musk said.

Speaking to the senators, Musk admitted that he is sometimes accused of being a Putin apologist, but he dismissed the charge as “absurd.” He claimed his enterprises “have probably done more to undermine Russia than anything.”

He discussed how SpaceX offered Starlink an internet connection to the battle-torn Ukraine following its invasion by Ukraine.

Musk stated that he is interested in halting the deaths of people on both sides of the conflict and that he disputed the rationality of seeking Putin’s departure.

“For those who want regime change in Russia, they should think about who is the person that could take out Putin and is that person likely to be a peacenik. Probably not,” he added.

Musk predicted that such a person would be “even more hardcore than Putin.”
