Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and Neuralink, reportedly welcomed another child with Neuralink’s head of special projects, Shivon Zilis, earlier this year. This marks their third child together, following the birth of twins in 2021. The revelation came through a Bloomberg report, adding to Musk’s publicly known count of 11 children.
Musk has filed a petition to change the names of the children he shares with Zilis to include his last name, while incorporating their mother’s last name as part of their middle name.
Musk’s growing family
Musk’s extensive family includes five children with his first wife, author Justine Musk, and three with musician Grimes. Musk has consistently voiced concerns over a global underpopulation crisis, asserting that intelligent individuals should have more children. “If people don’t have more children, civilization is going to crumble. Mark my words,” he stated in 2021.
Zilis’ perspective
Zilis, who has spoken positively about Musk’s influence on her decision to have children, reportedly said, “I can’t possibly think of genes I would prefer for my children,” according to Walter Isaacson’s biography, “Elon Musk.”
Controversies and allegations
On Thursday, Musk reposted a chart highlighting Europe’s “fertility crisis,” warning that “civilization may end with a bang or with a whimper (in adult diapers).” Meanwhile, a recent Wall Street Journal report alleged that a former SpaceX employee accused Musk of repeatedly asking her to have his children before she resigned in 2013. The report also mentioned accusations of Musk having inappropriate sexual relationships with two employees, including an intern, and exposing himself to a flight attendant in 2016, offering her a horse in exchange for sex acts.
