Swift’s Political Endorsement Sparks Social Media Frenzy; Musk’s Comment Draws Criticism
Elon Musk has landed in hot water following his peculiar and controversial reaction to Taylor Swift’s recent endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris.
Swift’s endorsement goes viral
Following the presidential debate on Tuesday night, the “Shake It Off” hitmaker took to Instagram to publicly support Harris, igniting widespread discussion across social media platforms. Among the myriad of responses, Musk’s peculiar remark stood out.
“Fine Taylor … you win … I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life,” commented the Tesla CEO on X.
Swifties react: “Creepy” and “disturbing”
Swift’s ardent fanbase, known as Swifties, did not take kindly to Musk’s comment. Many were quick to denounce his words, labeling them as “creepy.” The backlash was swift and severe.
“He’s disturbing,” wrote one individual, while another simply called him a “Weirdo.” Another user echoed similar sentiments, stating, “He is creepy for this…”
A third critic condemned Musk further: “Baby try looking after the child you already have who hates you.”
One fan highlighted the severity of the situation, stating, “Mind you this is sexual harassment,” while another remarked, “She doesn’t care about you, old man.”
Taylor Swift’s heartfelt endorsement
Amid the uproar, Taylor Swift’s original post continued to garner attention. She shared a heartfelt Instagram post featuring a picture of herself with her cat and addressed JD Vance’s “childless cat lady” comments, emphasizing the importance of being well-informed about the upcoming elections.
“Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most,” Swift began her message to fans.
“As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country,” she continued.
The singer also touched upon a personal issue regarding AI-generated misinformation: “Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation.
“It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”
Swift revealed her political stance, declaring her support for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.”
She praised Harris, stating, “I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”
Swift also expressed approval of Harris’ running mate, Tim Walz, adding, “I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.”
Encouraging voter participation
Encouraging her followers to participate in the democratic process, Swift advised: “I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make.
“I also want to say, especially to first-time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it’s much easier to vote early. I’ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story.”
A personal touch
Ending on a personal note, she humorously signed off: “With love and hope, Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady,” referencing past remarks by Vance in 2021 about “childless cat ladies” influencing the nation.
As the social media storm continues, Musk’s comment remains a point of contention, further amplifying the already fervent discourse surrounding Taylor Swift’s political endorsement.
