Disney employee fired for wrongdoings
Jorge Diaz Vega, a former Disney World employee is facing charges for stealthily taking a video up the skirt of a female customer. He allegedly stated he did it over 500 times in the last six years. A witness saw the accused shooting a video up an 18-year-old woman’s skirt. The incident was reported to the park’s security officers. Vega, the 26-year-old was working at the Star Wars gift shop in Disney World Hollywood Studios theme park in Florida.
As per an Associated Press report, Vega admitted to his acts of video voyeurism as a “guilty pleasure”. Several such videos were recovered from his phone. The former Disney employee was arrested on March 31 before being released on bail. However, the officers at the Orange County Sheriff refused comments about more serious charges by investigators. Walt Disney stated the accused no longer works with them.

Moreover, the incident came as a jolt to Disney’s public image with the reports of the firm’s plans of laying off its employees surfacing. As per Bloomberg, the media giant is planning to lay off about 1,000 employees this week, affecting jobs in theme parks, corporate, films, and TV. It is expected to affect all sectors of the company. Earlier this year, over 7,000 employees were fired as per initiatives announced by CEO Bob Iger. Iger’s plan is proposing to save $5.5 billion. The restructuring saving also includes $3 billion in non-sports content and $1.5 billion in operating costs.
