The formal coronation of Britain’s new King is almost here! A colourful invitation to the coronation ceremony, which will be sent to 2000 guests from around the globe, was shared by Buckingham Palace with the press on Tuesday. On May 6, King Charles will be formally crowned.

The coronation greeting card is a lovely white card with floral motifs and images of the royal family encircling it on all four sides. Andrew Jamieson, a heraldic artist and book illuminator, created the card. On recycled paper, a hand-painted watercolour card with gouache illustrations will be printed and circulated. This goes hand-in-hand with King Charles’ ongoing endeavour to live sustainably. “The Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla,” the note begins. The Earl Marshal is instructed by the King to ask [name] to attend the Abbey Church of Westminster on May 6, 2023.
You can see Charles and Camilla’s coats of arms—two birds perched on the letter C—if you look closely at the invitation to the coronation event. The invitation card also shows that Queen Consort’s position has changed, as she is now second in command only to King Charles. To represent her status as a Royal Lady of the Order of the Garter, her crest has been updated.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not yet confirmed their attendance
The blossoms aren’t abstract either. With lily of the valley, cornflowers, wild strawberries, dog roses, and bluebells, along with a sprig of rosemary for memory, the floral border is intended to resemble a British wildflower meadow. To symbolise the fact that Charles is the third King of his name, the flowers are arranged in bunches of three. The royal couple’s coats of arms are also depicted on flowers in the form of insects, bees, lions, unicorns, and boars. The flowers flow into an image of the Green Man, which the palace described as “an ancient figure from British folklore, symbolic of spring and rebirth, to celebrate the new reign.”
Prince Harry, the younger son of King Charles and Meghan Markle have not yet confirmed their attendance at the event. The young pair and the royal family have engaged in a public argument since they accused the “institution” of treating them unfairly and with racism. Prince William, the heir to the throne and older son of Charles, will preside over the ceremony with his wife Kate Middleton.
