Investigation Launched After Shocking Discovery

Authorities in California have initiated a homicide investigation following the discovery of a toddler’s body at a recycling facility and her father’s death in a different city. The body of 3-year-old Ellie Chinaza Obi Lorenzo was found by San Jose police around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, according to KRON.

Father and daughter tragedy

Ellie was in the custody of her father, Jared Lorenzo, who was found dead on Friday in San Francisco. Ellie’s mother reported her missing around noon on the same day, as the family had a custody agreement stipulating that Ellie should have been returned to her mother on Friday afternoon.

Police revealed that the last sighting of Ellie was at an apartment complex in Fremont, California. Fremont Police Chief Sean Washington expressed deep sorrow, stating, “Our department is saddened to learn Ellie has not survived. Our hearts are heavy for Ellie’s family, and we will continue to support them during this difficult time. I want to thank all the members of our department and allied agencies who worked tirelessly throughout the night to try to bring Ellie home safely. On behalf of our department and community, please keep everyone impacted by this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers.”
