Brigitte Macron, the wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, plans to sue over rumours that she was born male. Claims spread across the social media platform that the first lady of France was born as a man named Jean-Michel Trogneux.
According to the newspaper, the hashtag #JeanMichelTrogneux trended on Twitter in France for several days in mid-December. French news outlet CNews reports, the rumour began when the right-wing journal Faits et Documents published an article in September. Claiming that it had conducted a three-year investigation into Ms Macron and that its theory was supported by many experts. It is not the first time that high-profile political women have been dogged by sex-related rumours. Unsubstantiated claims have circulated on the internet that former US First Lady Michelle Obama was born as a man named Michael Lavaughn Robinson.
It is certainly not the first time high-profile political women are at target
“She has decided to initiate proceedings, it is in progress,” the lawyer for Brigitte, Jean Ennochi confirmed to the media. The spreading of the claims began in Mid-October with the publication of an article on the supposed “mystery of Brigitte Macron” in “Facts and Documents”, a review founded in 1996 by a shadowy ultra-right writer. France’s President Emmanuel Macron won elections in 2017. The couple was at target for their 25-year age difference. Moreover, during his election campaign in 2017, Emmanuel Macron had to refute false claims about his alleged homosexuality.
More recently, the French President’s strong viewpoint against radical Islam and in support of free speech has infuriated Islamic nations such as Turkey and Pakistan. Which have certainly denounced France and the French President based on Islamophobia. Pakistan’s National Assembly even enacted a determination demanding that the parliament recall their non-existent diplomat from France. However, there were uprisings against France all over the world, including in India. India had conveyed its solidarity with France and criticized the attacks on French citizens carried out by Islamic terrorists.
