Nanette Barragan of California invited him in the first place.
The Rapper’s invitation to this year’s State of the Union address was put to rest after it was learned that he has previously worked to promote healthcare price transparency. Over the last decade, rapper Fat Joe, whose real name is Joseph Antonio Cartagena, has repeatedly advocated for social activism within the rap community. According to Wion, he has worked with Senator Cory Booker to combat childhood obesity and increase Latino voter registration, as well as delivered presentations at public schools.
The rapper is well-known for his work with the advocacy group Power to the Patients in pressuring Congress to pass legislation requiring price transparency in the healthcare system.
