Controversial brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate have left Romania and are reportedly heading to the US, just weeks after Andrew was released from house arrest amid an ongoing human trafficking case, according to a report.
The Tate brothers, who had been under a travel ban for the past three years, departed from Baneasa Airport on a private jet at 5:00 a.m. local time (10:00 p.m. EST on Wednesday), according to the BBC, which cited sources.
Destination suspected to be Florida
Romanian media reported that the plane was en route to the US, with Florida suspected to be their final destination, based on “airport sources.”
Andrew, 38, and Tristan, 36, were arrested in Bucharest in December 2022 on charges of rape, trafficking minors, and money laundering, along with two Romanian women.
The brothers, both former kickboxers and dual British-US citizens, had been restricted from leaving Romania since December 2023. However, a Romanian court ruled in July 2024 that they could travel, provided they remained within the European Union, according to the BBC.
Pending legal battles
In January 2025, Andrew Tate was released from house arrest while awaiting the outcome of the ongoing criminal investigation.
The brothers are also wanted in the United Kingdom on charges of rape and human trafficking. They are expected to be extradited to the UK once legal proceedings in Romania conclude.
Andrew and Tristan Tate have denied all charges against them.
