Donald Trump, the former US president, has formally launched his third run for president in 2024 by filing the necessary papers. The Federal Election Committee received Trump’s paperwork just before he made his announcement at his Mar-a-LagoTrumpresort in Florida.
After reports of his paperwork came out, the former president made an official declaration to the public saying that he has decided to run for president again to make sure that America retains its glorious past.
“America’s comeback starts right now”
“America’s comeback starts right now,” Trump declared on Tuesday night at his Mar-a-Lago country club and home. He added, “Two years ago, we were a great nation, and soon we will be a great nation again.”
“In order to make America great and glorious again, I am tonight (Tuesday) announcing my candidacy for the President of the United States,” announced Trump amidst thunderous claps and jubilations amongst his supporters.
His attempt at the third run for president comes two years after he was defeated by Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election and falsely accused the electoral system of being rigged. His supporters then staged a violent siege of the Capitol on January 6, 2021, in an effort to prevent the peaceful transfer of power.
Trump did not challenge the results during his announcement
Trump’s declaration comes as Republicans prepare for their worst-ever midterm electoral showing. The rednecks’ hopes for a nationwide “red wave” to defeat Democrats haven’t materialized, despite their expectations. The Republicans managed to win the majority of the 218 House seats, but they gave the Democrats control of the Senate.
Surprisingly, Trump did not challenge the results during his announcement while acknowledging the losses that his party had suffered. Instead of taking responsibility for the midterm results, he claimed that voters had “not yet realized the full extent and gravity of the pain our nation is going through,” and he forecast that “the voting will be much different” by 2024.
