A woman who reported that a man was in the women’s locker room had her membership canceled by Planet Fitness. Patricia Silva of Fairbanks, Alaska, is the victim of the gym. She witnessed a man shaving in front of a young child.
A woman questioned a man who identified as “queer.”
The Planet Fitness gym allegedly banned the woman for complaining after she saw a man shave in the women’s locker room.
The woman posted the incident on social media with a photo of the man.
What happened?
When Silva left the gym, she posted a video on Facebook.
Silva stated, “I just came out of Planet Fitness, and a man is shaving in a woman’s bathroom,” in a brief video that was uploaded right after she left the gym.
“I realize he wants to be a woman,” she continued:
He gets to be a woman, I love him in Christ. He’s a spiritual being having a human experience. He doesn’t like his gender so he wants to be a woman.But I’m not comfortable with him shaving in my bathroom. “I stepped out of the locker room and loudly asked the front desk, ‘Are you aware that there is a MAN shaving in the women’s bathroom.… I’m not OK with that!’” she wrote above the video: The two men standing at the desk, put their heads down, and their tails between their legs! As I was walking out the door … at my back, a woman shouts “it’s a girl”… I shouted back “it’s a man!”
Silva clarified in a follow-up video that she wished to raise awareness in her community about pedophilia, as well as sexual assault and harassment, saying that these issues “start in places like this where we allow this kind of behavior.”
Silva stated that a representative from Planet Fitness tried to defame me on my Facebook page.
Silva disclosed in a third video that she was permanently expelled from the gym.
What is Planet Fitness’ policy?
According to gym’s “non-discrimination” policy on “transgenders.”- All members and team members may use Planet Fitness locker room facilities and programs based on their self-reported gender identity; these facilities include bathrooms, showers, and all other facilities separated by sex. Wherever possible, Planet Fitness clubs should maintain private changing areas in each locker room for the comfort of all members and team members.
