After the TikToker incident, another video of the assault on a woman sparks outrage in Pakistan

It’s only been a few days since a Pakistani TikToker was assaulted by hundreds of people on the country’s Independence Day. But yet again, another video of an assault on a woman is surfacing on the internet. This time involving a woman riding in a rickshaw and a stranger harassing her on a major road.

The video has gone viral on social media. It shows two women riding in an open rickshaw on a busy road with a toddler in between them. Suddenly, a man appears out of nowhere on the rickshaw’s footboard and presumably “kisses” or “attempts to kiss” the woman. The woman shrinks back in shock and pushes him away.

The footage appears to be from Lahore, Pakistan, according to Twitter users. A few motorcycles also flank the rickshaw. Also, the male occupants were hounding the women with a lot of catcalling and jeering in the footage. The second woman even pulls off her slipper in an attempt to intimidate the men riding behind them. But the men continue to abuse them. The young lady even tries to climb down from her rickshaw. But her companion prevents her from getting down.

The video sparked uproar on social media. Users claimed it happened just days after a horrible event involving a female TikToker in the nation. The complainant stated in her FIR filed at the Lorry Adda police station that she and her six companions were recording a video near the Minar-e-Pakistan on Saturday when 300 to 400 individuals “attacked them.”

Her ring and earrings were “forcibly taken,” according to the complaint. Also, the phone of one of her companions, his identity card, and Rs 15,000 in cash. Later, 400 people were arrested in connection with the incident.

Women activists gathered in Greater Iqbal Park a week after the incident to condemn the terrible incident. Also, to criticize the Imran Khan-led government’s failure to prevent such incidents. These incidents occur just a few months after Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was chastised for blaming women’s clothing for an increase in rape and sexual assault in the country. In an interview with ‘Axios on HBO’, Khan said, “If a woman is wearing very few clothes, it will have an impact on the men, unless they are robots. It’s just common sense.”
