Adin Ross, a popular internet personality, has sparked controversy by gifting former President Donald Trump a Rolex, raising concerns about potential Federal Election Commission (FEC) violations. Following criticism from other internet figures, including HasanAbi, Ross clarified his intentions and vowed to retrieve the watch.
Rolex for Barron Trump
Ross explained during a livestream that, due to legal concerns, he would take back the Rolex gifted to Trump and instead present it to the former president’s son, Barron Trump. Ross and Trump had discussed Barron during their interview, with Trump expressing admiration for his son and his fondness for Ross.
Legal concerns and FEC rules
HasanAbi, an American streamer, highlighted the potential legal implications of the gift, suggesting it may exceed the FEC’s contribution cap, which limits donations to $3,300 per individual. Rolex watches typically start at $5,000, further complicating the situation. Ross also reportedly gifted Trump a Tesla Cybertruck.
