A People Magazine Investigates episode based on Adrianne Jones’ murder is set to be re-aired on November 9, 2023, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Titled In The Name of Love, the episode’s synopsis reads: “In 1995, a 16-year-old student is found shot to death in Texas. Police don’t have any suspects until a game of Truth-or-Dare leads to a startling confession.” Diane Zamora and David Graham had a different idea for Adrianne at first. According to reports and their subsequent testimonies, the couple intended to pick up Jones from her house and go to Joe Pool Lake. Zamora, who was hidden in the car’s hatchback, planned to snap Adrianne’s neck from behind. The two were carrying weights that they planned to bind to Adrianne’s legs when they dumped her body in the lake.

However, when the women struggled following a confrontation, Zamora attacked Jones with the weights. Jones escaped from the automobile and ran into an open field, but David pursued her and shot her twice in the head. David Graham and Adrianne Jones attended Mansfield High School and were on the school track team. The two met at a cross-country track meet in Lubbock in November 1995, where their teams competed.

The body suffered a blunt traumatic head injury as well as two 9-mm gunshot wounds

Graham was scheduled to give Jones a ride home when the team returned to Mansfield on November 4, 1995. They did, however, stop behind an elementary school and engage in intercourse before dropping her off. Despite their brief s*xual meeting, no one at the gathering supposedly witnessed the two converse. Adrianne’s body was discovered by a farmer on Seeton Road, near Joe Pool Lake, in an open field that belonged to him. Her body was identified as a Jane Doe by the medical examiner. It was only after examination that it was determined to be Adrianne’s body, based on the photos provided to the police department.

The body suffered a blunt traumatic head injury as well as two 9mm gunshot wounds, one of which was exactly between her eyes. Despite the reports, the local police were unable to find any suspects or proof. Following a report from Diane’s Annapolis roommates that she had confessed to, David Graham and Diane Zamora were arrested. The couple was probed individually where critical aspects coincided, but the two later turned against each other in their confessions. Diane and David are currently not in contact with one another.

David Graham later stated that there had been no s*xual encounter between Adrianne Jones and him and that he had solely invented the idea to get a reaction from Zamora. “For those who don’t remember, this was a ruthless, unnecessary murder. David had lied to Diane about an alleged se*xual affair that never happened with Adrianne Jones. If he had said, “I was just kidding; I was just trying to make you jealous”, Adrianne Jones would still be alive today. Graham then stated that his first confession was correct because there was a physical interaction involved. He stated that he had simply changed his statements at the suggestion of his defense lawyer. As previously stated, the People Magazine Investigates program on Adrianne’s murder will be re-aired on November 9, 2023.
