2 killed in Poland as a Russian missile fell its east

Russian

Early on Wednesday, the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that two people had died when Russian-made missiles struck a village in the country’s east.

The Russian ambassador was called before the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau, who demanded that he give a thorough justification. According to the Associated Press, a US intelligence official had previously claimed that the missiles were Russian.

Condemnation from President Zelenskyy

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, charged Russia with attacking Poland on purpose.”This is a Russian missile attack on collective security,” he said. “This is a very significant escalation. We must act…(It is) only a matter of time before Russian terror goes further,”  said he.

Two theories are being investigated, according to unconfirmed information in the Polish media: one is that the Russian military made a programming error, and the other is that the Ukrainian military shot down a missile and it changed course.

According to a Russian military expert quoted by the official news agency Ria Novosti, Russian cruise missiles “would not have been able to reach Polish territory, but Ukrainian S-300 (surface-to-air) missile systems, functioning abnormally, could.”

The Russian position on the issue

Russian Ministry of Defense posted a statement on its Telegram channel saying that this is “a deliberate provocation in order to escalate the situation.”

Russia has resorted to attacking Ukraine’s power grid more frequently as its battlefield casualties rise, perhaps in an effort to use the impending winter as a tool by trapping people in the dark and the cold. Most of the world’s economic leaders were getting closer to approving a statement vehemently condemning Russia’s invasion. (flossdental.com)

At the G20 summit in Indonesia on Tuesday, Biden and Zelenskyy pressed other leaders for a strong condemnation of Russia’s nuclear threats and food embargoes. On Wednesday, more discussion and perhaps a vote were anticipated.
