Several unmarked indigenous graves!

Last June, over 182 corpses, found at the former Canadian residential school in British Columbia, Canada. Additionally, investigators found remains of 215 children, including corpses on kids younger than three years in May 2021. (losaltosresort.com) From the 1800s to the 1970s, Roman Catholic missionaries ran boarding schools for the indigenous. However, the government has admitted physical and sexual abuse of children. Lawmakers from the democratic party have now called for the authorities to investigate these horrendous crimes in the residential schools.

Here’s what the indigenous tribes said:

These acts of genocide have brought a large wave of loss and grief upon people of indigenous tribes and others alike. Unfortunately, this might just be the tip of the icebergs. Reports suggest that several unmarked graves are waiting to be discovered.

“We understand that many of our brothers and sisters from our neighboring communities attended the Kuper Island Industrial School. Additionally, we recognize with a tremendous amount of grief and loss, that too many did not return home,” stated Chief Joan Brown, in his letter. “We are at another point in time where we must face the trauma because of these acts of genocide,” he added.

Here’s the government’s reply

“I recognize these findings only deepen the pain that families, survivors, and all Indigenous peoples and communities are already feeling as they reaffirm the truth that they have long known,” said Justi Trudeau, the Canadian Prime Minister.

“To members of the Penelakut Tribe, we are here for you. We cannot bring back those who are lost but we can and will continue to tell the truth,” he added.
