The legendary trio of the football world, PSG’s forward Messi, Manchester United‘s Ronaldo, and Liverpool’s Salah are in the race for FIFA Best Men’s Player award. These 3 are in the along with 11 other contenders for the award.
Last year’s winner, Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski, Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne, and Chelsea combo N’Golo Kante and Jorginho join the three. Karim Benzema of Real Madrid, Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund, and Kylian Mbappe and Neymar of Paris Saint-Germain round out the list. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, and Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte are on the Men’s Coach shortlist, along with Germany’s Hansi Flick and Italy coach Roberto Mancini, who guided his team to the Euro 2020 title.
Who else is in the list?
Apart from being the best player and coach in the Men’s category, the Best Men’s Goalkeeper will also receive the award. This list includes Liverpool’s Alisson Becker, PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, Chelsea’s Édouard Mendy to name a few. Not just men, women players, and coaches are also facilitated. Arsenal’s Vivianne Miedema, City’s Lucy Bronze, and Ellen White. Chelsea’s Sam Kerr, Magdalena Eriksson, Pernilla Harder, and Ji So-yun are all in contention for the women’s award. Emma Hayes, who led Chelsea to the Champions League final in 2021. She is sharing the list for The Best FIFA Women’s Coach by England manager Sarina Wiegman. As well as Canada coach Beverly Priestman.
When is the award ceremony and why is it important?
In addition to coaches, the FIFA Best Award recognizes outstanding men’s and women’s football players. This is an annual prize given out by the football governing body. The prize is significant and emphasizes the value of performance. The selection of the awards is by members of the media, national team leaders and coaches, as well as fans. The winner announcement will be on January 17.
