Over 700 employees at Airbus Atlantic, a subsidiary of Airbus, became ill following the company’s Christmas dinner in western France, according to the BBC. According to health officials, affected workers experienced symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea, turning the holiday into an unexpected health crisis.
The precise cause of the widespread illness is unknown, as health officials have not provided information about the contaminated food. The incident happened during Christmas dinner and left diners with “clinical signs of vomiting or diarrhea,” according to the ARS health agency.
Response from Airbus
Airbus has yet to respond to the reported illness among its employees. Airbus Atlantic, the world’s largest aircraft manufacturer’s significant subsidiary, employs approximately 15,000 people across five countries.
The ARS health agency announced the start of an investigation to find out what caused the widespread food poisoning. This incident follows a separate case in France in which people became ill and one died as a result of botulism after eating at a restaurant in Bordeaux.
