The Isle of Càrn Deas is located on Scotland’s west coast. A 22-acre Scottish island is up for sale for about $70,000 (£50,000). According to the Daily Record, the 22-acre island is deserted. It is 1.5 miles from the nearest village, Achiltibuie, which has roughly 300 residents.
According to a press release from Goldcrest Land & Forestry Group, Càrn Deas is devoid of people. But it is rich in wildlife, including porpoises, dolphins, whales, and basking sharks. The island also boasts cliffs, coves, a shingle beach, and surrounding waterways. It would allow for watersports like sailing, scuba diving, and snorkeling, according to the press release.
A spokesperson for Goldcrest told Insider that Scottish island up for sale has “no buildings at all.”
“It might be possible to build a small cabin but that would be subject to planning,” they added.
Càrn Deas is part of the Summer Isles, a collection of islands off the west coast. It acquired its name from local crofters who used to graze their sheep there in the summer. Càrn Iar and Càrn Beag, which are likewise deserted, are part of this group. According to Goldcrest’s website, the island is a 25-minute boat ride from Badentarbat Pier or Old Dornie Harbour.
“Càrn Deas is very special and offers the perfect retreat for someone looking for a place where they can go when they truly want to escape from it all,” Fenning Welstead, a founder at Goldcrest, told Insider. “There, they can enjoy their own private camping spot and immerse themselves in some of Scotland’s most beautiful surroundings.”
