Facebook and Ray-Ban’s brainchild, Ray-Ban Stories, a one-of-a-kind smart glasses were released on Thursday. These glasses are a revolutionary method to capture and share moments. Here’s all about it.
What are the Ray-Ban Stories?
Ray-Ban Stories are a pair of smart glasses created by Facebook in partnership with Ray-Ban maker, Essilor Luxottica. These ‘smart glasses’ allow the user to listen to music, capture photos, and short videos, and take calls. Additionally, it also allows users to share them via Facebook using a companion app. According to Facebook, these glasses can be yours, starting at $299. They will be available in 20 styles both online and in select retail stores across the US, UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and Italy.
“Today, we’re excited to launch Ray-Ban Stories: smart glasses that give you a new way to capture photos and video, share your adventures and listen to music or take phone calls — so you can stay present with friends, family, and the world around you,” stated Facebook in its blog post.
Here’s how the smart glasses work
The smart glasses come with dual integrated 5MP cameras that can take photos and record short 30-second long videos. One can take images or record small videos using the capture button. Additionally, users can go hands-free with the aid of Facebook assistant voice commands.
The device also lights up with LED to let the people around the user know that they’re taking a photo or video. The Ray-Ban Stories are also equipped with open-ear speakers which are built into the device. The glasses’ three-microphone audio system delivers a rich and smooth audio transmission for videos and calls.
