In a huge leap toward artificial intelligence (AI), Apple is likely to create waves this year with the testing of its new AI feature, ‘Ask’. Unlike past AI efforts that were only available to iPhone users, this tool is intended to help a wider audience while also providing insight into Apple’s AI objectives, according to Macrumors.
Apple is now training the ‘Ask’ AI tool using its proprietary database. ‘Ask’, which is similar to ChatGPT but designed specifically for Apple customers, promises to efficiently resolve consumer concerns by tackling complicated and unknown issues without rapid human intervention, according to the source.
According to reports, the initial testing phase includes a small group of support workers or advisors who score the tool’s responses and can ask up to five follow-up questions on a given topic.
How will this work?
When asked a query, the tool automatically provides relevant information from its own knowledge base. The study stated that advisors can rate answers and ask follow-up questions.
Apple intends to expand the tool after receiving input. It encourages advisors to utilize ‘Ask’ before other techniques. For example, ‘Ask’ can answer issues such as “A customer is unable to update their device to iOS 15.” What can be done?” the study stated.
Meanwhile, iOS 18, scheduled for release in June 2024, will include new generative AI features in a variety of apps. This includes Siri, Spotlight, Messages, Health, Numbers, Pages, Keynote, and others.
AppleCare will also leverage generative AI to expedite customer help.
