Apple is attempting to reduce the gap and bring it on par with China
Apple has already started working with its local suppliers in India to speed up the production pace to cut down the manufacturing time of the new smartphone.
The process typically takes around six to nine months. Now, word is that the company is planning to reduce this lag. It wants to do it shortly after the company starts shipping them post-launch. This means that Apple should start making Made in India iPhone 14 series, which is expected to include the iPhone 14, the iPhone 14 Pro, the iPhone 14 Plus, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max, sometime in November – December.
Taiwanese tech giant Foxconn, which is the primary manufacturer of the iPhone, has studied a route where components can be shipped from China and assembled at the company’s plant, outside the southern Indian city of Chennai.
The move indicates that Apple is planning to reduce its dependence on China. It is to avoid disruptions owing to geo-political situations and it considered India a key growth market.
