Who is Ashok Elluswamy?
Ashok Elluswamy, the current director of Tesla’s Autopilot software was the first to get hired after Musk’s tweet on hiring candidates for the firm’s autopilot team. “Ashok was the first person recruited from my tweet saying that Tesla is starting an Autopilot team!” tweeted Musk on December 29. The robotics engineer has been associated with Tesla for eight years. He has experience in perception through planning and control in addition to computer vision.
Elluswamy graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Chennai’s College of Engineering. He then studied robotics systems development at Carnegie Mellon University. Previously he was working at Volkswagen and WABCO Vehicle Control Systems. He started working with Tesla in January 2014, first as a software engineer before working his way up.

According to Tesla, their cars are equipped with advanced hardware that can support “autopilot features and full self-driving capabilities”. Musk has been using social media for recruiting people. In a video by Sawyer Merrit, the cofounder of Twin Broch, Musk stated that Ashok was the head of Autopilot engineering.
