WhatsApp messages- Soon you can delete old text messages

WhatsApp, the popular messaging app has a new feature in the works. With this, you can soon delete your WhatsApp messages dating back to several months. Here’s all about it.

WhatsApp messages: New updates

According to a report by WaBetaInfo, the time limit for using the “delete for everyone” feature on your WhatsApp messages will soon be indefinite. First introduced in 2017, the users could only delete messages within the first seven minutes of sending messages. However, WhatsApp changed it to 4,096 seconds or, about 1 hour and 8 minutes. Every time you delete a WhatsApp message, it is replaced with a “this message was deleted” message.

But, what is the new ‘undefined’ time extension? A shared image reveals that users can delete a WhatsApp message from about three months ago. Hence, experts believe that WhatsApp is planning to change the time limit with the new update. “The new feature allows deleting any message for everyone without considering when it has been sent, but note: seen that this new version of delete messages for everyone is under development, things may totally change before the release, and nothing is always confirmed until the activation of the feature for beta testers,” stated the WaBetaInfo report.

iOS focused updates and more

However, the release date is still undeclared. But, the report believes that it should come with the WhatsApp 2.21.23 update for Android. Additionally, the messaging platform is working on a new feature. This will be offering sticker suggestions as you type the message. WhatsApp is also developing a brand new video playback interface for iOS. This is targeted at videos shared from other platforms like Instagram, YouTube, etc. Hence, iOS users of the app can soon play the shared video on full-screen. They can also move the picture-in-picture mode to rush through the video.
