Verified Twitter accounts are now 'prioritized,' says Musk

Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, stated on Tuesday that verified Twitter accounts will be prioritized. Taking to Twitter, the billionaire stated, “Verified accounts are now prioritized.” Musk’s statement comes after Twitter removed the coveted blue checkmarks from verified accounts that had the status before Musk took over the social media company. Musk, in another tweet, wrote “Sometimes, when you learn about something, you think you have it.”

As per one of the replies to Musk’s tweet, ‘prioritizing’ of verified handled would mean that the verified profiles, which are the profiles subscribed to Twitter Blue, will get special attention. “…if your account is verified, people looking at Twitter are more likely to see your posts,” said the user account ‘Bob Is Here To Explain.

Twitter Blue is a paid subscription service of the microblogging website that costs $7.99 per month and grants blue ticks to accounts that subscribe to it. It was stated that only users who had a Twitter Blue subscription will receive the verification badge as well as access to new features. Editing tweets, which allows users to change their tweets up to 30 minutes after posting, NFT profile images, bookmark folders, and custom app icons are among the features. The service was made available for web, Android, and iOS devices.

Blue tick returned to accounts with over one million followers

Musk stated in a post on March 19 that Twitter will prioritize answers from persons a user follows, unverified profiles, and verified handles in the coming weeks. Musk made the revelation on Tuesday, only days after Twitter removed blue ticks from numerous users, including celebrities, who had not subscribed to Twitter Blue. Two days later, the blue tick returned to accounts with over one million followers, which included both living and deceased celebrities.

The blue ticks were restored without people’s knowledge, even if they had not paid for or registered to Twitter Blue. The abrupt reappearance of the blue ticks was not explained by Musk or Twitter. Since the moment the SpaceX CEO took over the social media network under dramatic circumstances at the San Francisco-based headquarters, he has made significant adjustments to Twitter’s regulations. Musk sacked Indian-American CEO Parag Agrawal hours after taking over and eventually laid off other key executives.
