WhatsApp just rolled out another new feature. With WhatsApp fast playback, you can now control the playback speed of your voice messages. Read along to find out how to use it.

This new feature allows users to choose various playback speeds while playing an audio note. Long voice notes are always a challenge.

However, the latest WhatsApp update for iOS and Android changes things. You can now listen to long voice notes quickly and choose to skip through parts to reach a particular point. Initially, this feature was rolled out only for its Beta users.

Here’s how WhatsApp fast playback works:

The app offers two new speeds for listening to your messages. Apart from the original playback speed, you now have 1.5x and 2x speeds. With this, you can listen to voice files at an additional 50 percent or 100 percent speed.

How do you change the speed of your voice messages?

Firstly, make sure your phone has the latest update of the app by checking in the play store or AppStore. The 2.21.101 update is not just for your phones but also applies to WhatsApp Web.

Play any voice note and click on the speed button on the message bubble. Toggle to listen to the note at your desired speed.

More features in store

It is not the only new WhatsApp feature! The app also lets you choose personalized wallpapers for each group or contact. You can customize your chat backgrounds with your favorite pictures for extra familiarity. In the days of social distancing, this is yet another touch of familiarity and closeness.

WhatsApp is also said to be testing the 24-hour disappearing messages, unlike the 7-day disappearing messages that are currently in use. Once this feature is released for the masses, the company might permanently remove the previous feature.
