Apple has made it increasingly difficult for unauthorized third parties to repair iPhones over the years. Apple has taken steps with each iPhone version to deter users from purchasing the phone from places other than Apple authorized vendors. It’s no different with the iPhone 13 series. If a third party changes your iPhone 13 screen, then the face ID will not work.
Face ID on the iPhone 13 disables if a third party replaces the phone screen, according to YouTube channel Phone Repair Guru. Worse, even if you replace the screen with a genuine iPhone 13 screen, Face ID would stop working.
The only method to get Face ID to work again is to replace the original screen. The one that originally came with the iPhone 13. What’s interesting is that the iPhone 13 screen doesn’t contain any components for Face ID. Thereby, implying that Apple took this precaution to prevent third-party repairs.
Apple has been chastised for making it increasingly difficult for third parties to fix its products. Third-party repair shops that aren’t part of the company’s Independent Repair Program won’t be able to fix the device.
Only Apple-certified organizations and stores have access to genuine Apple parts, training manuals, device blueprints, and other information unavailable to unauthorized repair shops.
Apple’s continuous refusal to make repairs easy has sparked groups such as “Right to Repair.”
President Joe Biden signed an executive order earlier this year directing the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). It is to prohibit firms from prohibiting customers from repairing their products.
