Facebook Reels goes global with new money-making tools for creators

Facebook reels are going global. The company has expanded the reels to 150 countries and has also added additional features. Reels are Tiktok’s biggest competitor. “To help creators earn money from Reels”, the company said it is expanding tests of overlay ads, starting with banner and sticker ads.

“New Facebook Reels features include Remix, sharing to Facebook Stories and more,” Meta said in a statement late on Tuesday. “Watching video is half of the time spent on Facebook and Instagram, and Reels is our fastest-growing content format by far,” it added.

Instagram reels have become increasingly successful over the period and have also become a source of earnings for creators. Last year, FB added Reels to its main app, however it was only available in the United States.

Creators can earn up to $35,000 for Facebook reels

In a post, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg wrote, “Reels is already our fastest-growing content format by far, and today we’re making it available to everyone on Facebook globally. We want Reels to be the best place for creators to connect with their community and make a living. So, we’re launching new monetization tools too.”

However, Meta said that the ‘Reels Play’, a bonus program, part of its $1 billion creator investment, pays eligible creators up to $35,000/month based on the views on their qualifying reels. By mid-March, creators in nearly every country where in-stream advertisements are accessible will be able to participate in these tests. Reels can be found in Feeds, Groups, and Watch by users.
