Samsung unveiled a new artificial intelligence robot at CES 2024 in Las Vegas. Fans of the brand may recognize the new Ballie bot as a more advanced version of its predecessor, which drew criticism in 2020. Samsung has unveiled a new version of the infamous Ballie robot.
What is the Samsung Ballie bot?
Ballie was first introduced by Samsung in 2020, but the new version appears larger and less creepy. Critics slammed the original Ballie as creepy and “inherently sinister”. Samsung’s new Ballie is marketed as a friendly assistant who follows you around the house upon your request.
It can greet you by projecting messages onto the floor or wall via its lights and cameras.
Features of Samsung’s Ballie
Ballie can take care of your pets and send you updates while you’re at work. A video demonstrating the robot was shown to the media at CES.
It depicts Ballie greeting its owners, keeping them fit, and assisting them at work by projecting content onto the wall.
The robot is also shown communicating with its owners, caring for a dog, and sending live updates and photos to a smartphone.
Ballie’s initial announcement in 2020 received mixed reviews.
Some viewers thought the robot was adorable, while others found the fact that it was shown watching its owners sleep disturbing.
