Apple will soon launch contactless payments via Tap to Pay on iPhone. It will help in the seamless and secure use of Apple pay for millions. Apple Pay will accept various contactless options, as well as other digital wallets, without the necessity for any supplementary hardware. In a statement, the company said that Tap to Pay on iPhone will be available for payment platforms. Moreover, the app developers will be able to incorporate it into their iOS apps. This will provide a payment option to their business clients in the US first.
“Tap to Pay on iPhone will provide businesses with a secure, private, and easy way to accept contactless payments. It will unlock new checkout experiences using the power, security, and convenience of iPhone,” said Jennifer Bailey, Apple’s vice president of Apple Pay and Apple Wallet.

Stripe will be the introductory payment forum to propose Tap to Pay on iPhone to its business customers. This will begin with the Shopify Point of Sale app this spring. It will be followed by then broadening to other payment fora and applications later this year. Merchants can use contactless payments using an iOS app on an iPhone XS once Tap to Pay on iPhone is ready.
The buyer will keep their iPhone or Apple Watch near the merchant’s iPhone to pay with Apple Pay. A contactless credit or debit card, or another digital wallet, and the payment will be safe using NFC technology.
“All transactions made using Tap to Pay on iPhone are encrypted. They are processed using the Secure Element, and as with Apple Pay, Apple doesn’t know what is being purchased or who is buying it,” the company said.
More than 90% of retailers in the United States accept Apple Pay. Later this year, Apple Store locations in the United States will receive Tap to Pay on iPhone. Customers’ payment data is safe by the identical technology that brings about Apple Pay private and protected when they utilize Tap to Pay on their iPhones.
In an upcoming iOS software beta, participating payment providers and their app developer partners will use the feature on iPhone.
