The world’s largest online retailer, Amazon, has begun using drones to deliver products to customers’ homes in the US states of Texas and California. According to The Verge, Amazon recently used their “Amazon Prime Air” drone service to deliver a small number of packages to customers in Lockeford, California, and College Station, Texas.
“Our aim is to safely introduce our drones to the skies. We are starting in these communities and will gradually expand deliveries to more customers over time,” Amazon Air spokesperson Natalie Banke said in a statement.
Federal Aviation Administration gave Amazon ‘Part 135’ approval to send packages by drone
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) granted the business “Part 135” license in 2020 to use drones to deliver packages. Clients in Lockeford and College Station can join up and place purchases; customers in other areas will receive notifications when drone delivery becomes available. After placing an order, customers will receive tracking details and an estimated delivery time, along with instructions on when to anticipate the drone delivering their order to their backyard, according to the report.
Amazon will continue the process of layoffs
According to a recent report, the corporation is now more likely to fire 20,000 employees, representing all levels of employment, than it was previously. The CEO of Amazon recently stated that the company will continue the process of layoffs and that the affected employees would be notified after the company had completed its assessment. Therefore, it is very possible that the number of people being let go has increased as all departments throughout various locations are being thoroughly assessed in order to make cost savings.
