Virat Kohli struggles for runs, players come in support

In what seems to be a never-ending struggle with the bat, Virat Kohli has once again failed to capitalize on the opportunity to score some runs after getting a good start.

Virat came to bat after Team India lost their captain Rohit Sharma early in the innings while chasing the target of 247. Batting alongside Shikhar Dhawan, Kohli looked good as he beautifully hit 3 boundaries. However, the joy was short-lived. He nicked an outside ball and ended up giving a clean catch right in the hands of the wicketkeeper.

There are mixed reactions from fans and the cricketing fraternity about Kohli’s form. Some of the former players have questioned his position in the team while many are coming out in support. Addressing the press conference after the Lord’s ODI, Rohit Sharma said,

“We do have chats about this topic. But we should also understand and think when we talk about such things. We have seen the performance of all players goes up and down. But the quality of the player never gets worse. That we all should keep in mind. That is very important. He has made so many runs, check his average, how many hundreds he has made. He has (vast) experience in doing that. There is a slump in every player’s life. Even in the personal life, it comes.”

Babar Azam posts a heartfelt message for Virat Kohli

Apart from Rohit Sharma, players like Ashish Nehra, Brett Lee, Sunil Gavaskar, Amit Mishra, Wasim Jaffer, and others have constantly spoken about the caliber Virat Kohli has. Backing the Indian batter, Babar Azam posted a heartfelt picture with the caption, “This too shall pass”. Team India will play their last game of the tour on Sunday.

Virat Kohli along with Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal has been given rest for the West Indies tour. They are likely to return to the Asia Cup.
